UX Design Co-op @ IDHF
As a UI/UX Co-op at the IDHF (Human Factor & UX) department, I worked closely with UX designers, human factor engineers, developers, circulating nurses, and preclinical nurses at the top of the medical field to deliver user experiences for three high-profile surgical devices.
My Contribution
As a junior-level designer, I was responsible for supporting various projects with high-quality UX deliverables when they are at different stages of development. I worked on the following action items:
1. I maintained and updated the Johnson & Johnson component library, and provided comprehensive documentation for cross-functional teams.
2. I significantly enhanced usability by leading the legibility test for a medical device UI, ensuring compliance with AAMI HE75 guidelines for medical use.
3. I conducted usability research with 12 preclinical nurses on a surgical instrument, gathering qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions and improve user experience.
4. I supported the content writing for the instructional page of one medical device Figma file, so it could be ready for cross-functional review and developer hand-off.
5. I collaborated with in-office and remote designers to support high-profile surgical device projects at various stages of development, including ideation, planning, validation, and defect tracking.
